The School of Media and Communication Studies at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) recently held a distinguished ceremony to honor senior journalist and analyst Sohail Warraich with the prestigious title of Professor of Practice. The event was attended by a distinguished gathering, including Vice Chancellor Muhammad Niaz from Quaid-e-Azam University, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Hafeezullah Niazi, Ata-ul-Haq Qasmi, Salim Bukhari, Ajmal Jami, Salman Ghani, Mubasher Lucman, Salman Abid, Justice (Retd) Nasira Iqbal, Fahad Shahbaz, as well as numerous journalists, analysts, and professionals from various fields.
Dr. Anjum Zia, Dean of the School of Media and Communication Studies at UMT, warmly welcomed the guests and underscored the significance of the occasion. She highlighted that UMT takes pride in being the first to confer the title of Professor of Practice, reserved for individuals with exceptional academic and practical expertise. Dr. Zia expressed her delight in bestowing this honor upon Sohail Warraich, recognizing his distinguished career and expertise in journalism, analysis, and authorship, and his official association with UMT’s School of Media.
Rector Dr. Asif Raza of UMT reiterated the institution’s commitment to providing a nurturing environment that equips students with the skills to serve the nation. He commended the decision to appoint Sohail Warraich as Professor of Practice, emphasizing the importance of bridging academia and industry.
