UAE Cuts Work, Residency Visa Process from 30 to 5 Days

In a significant move aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing bureaucratic barriers, the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has announced a major initiative to slash the processing time for work permits and residency visas. Previously taking a month to complete, the processing duration has been dramatically reduced to just five days, marking a substantial improvement for employers and workers alike.

The streamlined process also includes a notable reduction in the time required to present essential documents, now condensed from 16 days to a mere five. This transformation comes alongside the introduction of a groundbreaking platform known as “Work Bundle,” strategically designed to simplify the hiring process for both businesses and private companies operating within the UAE.

Part of the broader Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, Work Bundle represents a pivotal step towards providing a unified platform that streamlines application procedures for employers across various sectors. The platform not only expedites the initial hiring process but also facilitates the renewal of visas for existing employees, contributing to smoother operations and increased productivity.

Since its launch in March, the Work Bundle platform has been implemented in three progressive phases. Initially accessible to companies in Dubai, its coverage has now expanded to encompass all seven emirates, ensuring widespread accessibility and impact. The subsequent phases aim to extend coverage to approximately 600,000 companies and over seven million workers, with future plans to include domestic workers within its scope.

Currently accessible through its dedicated website, workinuae.ae, the Work Bundle platform is set to further enhance accessibility with the impending release of a mobile application. This technological advancement aligns with the UAE government’s commitment to leveraging innovation to streamline processes and enhance user experience.

Overall, this initiative underscores the UAE government’s unwavering dedication to fostering a business-friendly environment, characterized by efficiency, transparency, and reduced administrative burdens. By significantly cutting down on processing times and administrative complexities, the UAE is poised to bolster its position as a premier destination for investment and economic growth.
