Punjab University (PU) has clinched a prestigious title, named the “Best Improved Institution – Asia region” by the QS World University Rankings, marking a remarkable milestone for Pakistan’s academic landscape.
This esteemed accolade was bestowed upon PU at the esteemed EduData Summit held in Washington DC, where representatives from the Pakistan Embassy, Bilal Akram and Bilal Riaz, graciously accepted the award on behalf of the university.
Speaking on this momentous occasion, PU’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, expressed profound pride in the institution’s phenomenal progress. He underscored PU’s newfound ability to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with elite universities across Asia, attributing this triumph to the institution’s adept budget management strategies.
In recent years, PU has surged through the QS rankings, ascending to the 570th position this year. This meteoric rise marks a significant leap from last year’s ranking of 740-750, and an even more remarkable jump from the 800-1000 range it occupied between 2019 and 2022.
Dr. Mahmood lauded the unwavering commitment and tireless efforts of PU’s faculty, staff, and students, stressing that their collective dedication has been instrumental in elevating the university’s global standing.
This recognition as the “Best Improved Institution” not only underscores PU’s notable strides but also serves as a beacon, illuminating the immense potential of Pakistani educational institutions to attain excellence on the international stage.
