Punjab Approves Solar Panels for Consumers Using up to 500 Units of Electricity

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz recently launched the ‘Roshan Gharana’ program, which aims to provide solar panels to households consuming between 50 to 500 units of electricity. Approved by the Punjab cabinet, this initiative covers 90% of the solar panel costs, with consumers responsible for the remaining 10%, payable in easy installments over five years, including reduced payments during winter.

The program targets alleviating challenges posed by rising electricity prices and the ongoing energy crisis, focusing initially on economically vulnerable households. Maryam Nawaz underscored the government’s commitment to easing financial burdens on the public, promising substantial improvements within the next five years.
