Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) has announced a significant breakthrough with the discovery of substantial oil and gas reserves at the Razgir-1 exploratory well located in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Drilled to a depth of 3,950 meters, the well has yielded promising results, testing at 20 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas and 250 barrels of condensate per day. These findings, confirmed through a drill stem test (DST), suggest a strong potential for commercial production, although actual output will be refined through further assessments.
This discovery is poised to enhance Pakistan’s domestic hydrocarbon supply and strengthen the country’s energy reserves. It is expected to play a crucial role in decreasing reliance on imported fuels and bolstering energy security.
The Razgir-1 project is a collaborative effort under the TAL Joint Venture, which brings together key partners including Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), MOL Pakistan, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL), and Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL). This partnership underscores a significant commitment to exploring and developing Pakistan’s natural resources, marking a hopeful stride towards improved energy independence and sustainability.
