Pakistan Imposes Rs. 19 Million Fine on 6 Catering Companies for Not Meeting Service Standards for Hajj Pilgrims

Six catering companies operating under the Pakistan Hajj Mission (PHM) in Makkah have been fined a total of SAR 263,580 ($71,000) for failing to meet meal service standards for Pakistani Hajj pilgrims. Despite overseeing 70,105 pilgrims this year and employing nine catering firms, the PHM is adamant about upholding quality service.

Since May 9, over 55,990 pilgrims have arrived in Makkah, emphasizing the urgency of maintaining strict standards. Out of Pakistan’s total Hajj quota of 179,210 pilgrims, 70,000 are participating under the government scheme, making their satisfaction a priority.

The fines were imposed for various violations, including unclean meals and delays in service. To ensure quality, caterers underwent a rigorous selection process, with the daily menu offering a mix of Pakistani and continental dishes to accommodate diverse tastes.

Moreover, the PHM has implemented digital apps to swiftly address pilgrim complaints, underscoring their commitment to a seamless experience. These measures reflect PHM’s dedication to safeguarding the well-being and comfort of Pakistani Hajj pilgrims in Makkah.
