Oman’s Bilal Khan has made history in One Day International (ODI) cricket by becoming the fastest pacer to achieve 100 wickets. Khan reached this milestone in just 49 ODIs, surpassing the previous record of 51 matches held by Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi.
The updated list of fastest pacers to 100 ODI wickets is as follows:
- Bilal Khan (Oman) – 49 ODIs
- Shaheen Shah Afridi (Pakistan) – 51 ODIs
- Mitchell Starc (Australia) – 52 ODIs
Khan, a 37-year-old left-arm medium pacer, set this new record during an ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 match against Namibia in Dundee. In that game, he delivered a stellar performance, claiming three wickets for 50 runs in his 10 overs, bringing his total to 101 wickets in just 49 ODIs.
This achievement not only underscores Khan’s exceptional consistency and skill but also marks a significant milestone for Omani cricket. His record-setting performance cements his place among the premier fast bowlers in the world and represents a historic moment for both his career and the cricketing community in Oman.
