Karachi Records Hottest Day of Year 2024

Karachi has experienced its hottest day of the year, with temperatures peaking at an unprecedented 42°C and exceeding in some areas. The Meteorological Office forecasts that temperatures could rise further to 43°C, with hot and humid conditions expected for the next three days.

Gulistan-e-Johar recorded the highest temperature at 43.7°C, closely followed by the airport area at 42.8°C. Shahrah-e-Faisal saw temperatures reach 40.5°C, while Maripur recorded 40.2°C. Across the city, the average temperature stood at 42.6°C, marking a significant heatwave.

Residents are strongly advised to take precautions such as staying hydrated, minimizing outdoor activities, and seeking shade or air-conditioned spaces wherever possible. Particularly vulnerable groups including the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions are urged to take extra care.

In response to the extreme heat, city officials are establishing cooling centers and emergency medical services to mitigate potential health risks. Simple measures like wearing light clothing, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding direct sun exposure are recommended to prevent heat-related illnesses during this intense weather period.
