Karachi Faces Fuel Shortage Amid Petroleum Dealers’ Strike

Karachi is currently grappling with a fuel shortage due to a strike organized by the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA).

As of 6 AM today, fuel stations nationwide have shut down in response to the PPDA’s strike call.

While Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and other fuel companies are still operational and ensuring supply, the Oil Tanker Owners Association has emphasized that they are not participating in the strike. They are actively delivering fuel to essential services such as railways, airports, and power plants.

Despite assurances from PSO about uninterrupted fuel supply, discussions between the government and the petroleum dealers have failed to yield a resolution. Consequently, the strike persists across the country.
