The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning regarding heavy monsoon rains expected across Punjab until July 7, 2024. According to PDMA forecasts, significant rainfall is anticipated in various districts, including Sialkot, Narowal, Shakargarh, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Mandi Bahauddin.
In Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree, and Galiyat regions, heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is expected.
As of now, water levels in Punjab’s rivers (Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej) are reported as normal. However, there is a flood warning specifically for the Chenab River at Marala due to the potential for moderate to high flooding.
The PDMA urges the public to exercise caution during this period. They advise against crossing rivers and recommend avoiding contact with electrical infrastructure to ensure safety.
