Eid-ul-Azha is upon us, and this year, easypaisa is poised to revolutionize the way Pakistanis buy and sell sacrificial animals. With its in-app Raast-based QR code payment system, easypaisa is not just simplifying transactions but also contributing to the State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) vision of a digitally empowered financial ecosystem.
Last year, Eid-ul-Azha saw transactions worth PKR 376 billion, underlining the significance of this initiative. Through the Raast instant payment service, easypaisa is set to streamline the process for both consumers and traders at selected cattle markets nationwide.
Sending and receiving money is now as easy as tapping a screen. Users can initiate transactions by scanning the recipient’s QR code and entering the desired amount. Receiving payments is equally effortless with a simple tap on the easypaisa app’s home screen.
Shahmeer Nadeem, Head of Product Management at TMB/easypaisa, expressed the company’s commitment to fostering financial inclusivity in Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of digitizing the traditionally cash-heavy cattle market transactions, ensuring a seamless experience for users during Eid-ul-Azha.
This initiative aligns with SBP’s agenda to digitize Pakistan’s financial landscape, with easypaisa leading the charge. With over 40 million registered mobile accounts, easypaisa continues its mission to empower Pakistan through collaborative innovation and technology.
