Zulfiqar Ahmed, the owner of Cola Next and managing director of Paracha Textile Mills and Mezan Group, has been safely reunited with his family in Lahore after a harrowing abduction in Karachi on July 23, 2024.
The ordeal began when Ahmed was seized by eight armed men while driving his white Toyota Surf on Mauripur Road. The attackers forcibly took him away, sparking significant worry among his loved ones and business associates.
Initially, the local police were reluctant to act on the family’s pleas, prompting them to seek intervention from the Sindh High Court. The court responded by ordering the police to file a formal complaint, which was subsequently lodged at Kalri Police Station under Section 365, pertaining to kidnapping or abduction.
In response to the case, Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho announced the formation of two high-level investigation teams. These teams, led by the Deputy Inspector General of the CIA and the Zonal DIG, are committed to investigating the abduction thoroughly and ensuring that justice is achieved.
Ahmed’s safe return brings relief to his family and the broader business community, who had been anxiously awaiting updates. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about security and the effectiveness of law enforcement in the region.
