BCCI Announces Rs. 415 Crore Award For T20 World Champions India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a significant bonus of Rs. 415 Crore (approximately USD 15 million) for India’s triumphant T20 World Cup-winning team. This announcement follows India’s thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in the final, which took place in Barbados.

Jay Shah, the board’s secretary, praised the team for their exceptional talent and sportsmanship, underscoring their achievement in bringing pride to the nation.

In addition to the BCCI’s bonus, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had previously declared a record cash prize of USD 2.45 million for the tournament champions. Furthermore, the ICC awarded an additional USD 31,154 for each match won during the tournament (excluding the semi-finals and finals).

This year, the total prize pool for the T20 World Cup was doubled to USD 11.25 million, ensuring that all 20 participating teams received a share of the increased winnings. This financial injection is expected to benefit players and bolster the development of cricket in their respective countries.

The BCCI’s generous bonus underscores the significance of the team’s success and highlights the board’s commitment to recognizing excellence and dedication in cricket.
