In a significant development, rice prices have taken a sharp nosedive over the past two months, mirroring the earlier declines in wheat and flour prices. The Punjab government’s effective measures have led to a substantial drop of Rs60 per kilogram in rice prices.
Several varieties of rice, including Super Kainat, Super Basmati, and Super Kernal, have all seen price reductions ranging from Rs50 to Rs60 per kilogram. As a result, Super Kainat rice is now priced at Rs280 per kilogram, a decrease of Rs60, while Super Basmati rice is available at Rs210 per kilogram, down by Rs50.
Market sources report that rice prices are expected to continue falling, alleviating concerns about artificial inflation. This trend is expected to benefit consumers, making essential food items more affordable and providing some relief to the public amid economic challenges.
The reduction in rice prices is part of a broader effort by the Punjab government to stabilize food costs and ensure that basic necessities remain accessible to everyone. The ongoing decrease in rice prices serves as a positive sign for consumers, indicating that the government’s measures are having the desired effect.
