Feels Like Temperature Crosses 50°C in Some Parts of Karachi

Karachi is currently in the grip of an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring to between 40 and 41°C before noon today. Coupled with high humidity levels ranging from 40% to 60%, the “feels like” temperature in some areas has surpassed 50°C. This scorching weather is posing significant challenges to residents, disrupting daily routines and making outdoor activities particularly strenuous.

Health experts are strongly advising people to stay indoors whenever possible, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and refrain from engaging in strenuous activities to avoid heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Local authorities have responded by issuing advisories urging citizens to take precautionary measures. Recommendations include wearing light, loose clothing, utilizing fans or air conditioning to stay cool, and taking frequent breaks if working outdoors.

Vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions are especially at risk during this extreme weather. Extra care and attention are needed to ensure their well-being and safety.

The current conditions underscore the importance of community awareness and preparedness in dealing with such severe heatwaves. Residents are encouraged to follow safety guidelines, stay informed through official updates, and support one another during this challenging period.
