PKR Replaces USD for Trade Transactions in Gwadar Free Zones

In the Gwadar Free Zones, a recent policy shift highlighted in the federal budget 2024-25 allows all companies to conduct trade transactions with the tariff area in Pakistani currency, rather than US dollars. This strategic move aims to shield trade activities from the volatility of the dollar, fostering stability and confidence among businesses operating within Pakistan’s markets and industries outside the Gwadar Free Zone jurisdiction.

In the burgeoning Gwadar North Free Zone, notable developments are underway with the commencement of operations by two export-oriented enterprises: Agven, specializing in fertilizers, and Hangeng Agricultural Industrial Park. Additionally, plans are underway for a lubrication oil firm and a textile company to establish manufacturing facilities, a move expected to generate tens of thousands of employment opportunities for local residents. These initiatives underscore the zone’s role as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation in the region.
