Federal Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik has unveiled a major subsidy initiative, allocating Rs 50 billion to support households consuming fewer than 200 units of electricity. This measure is expected to benefit 86% of homes across Pakistan by maintaining last year’s electricity tariff, thereby providing substantial financial relief to a significant portion of the population.
In addition to this, Malik announced an extensive allocation of Rs 600 billion for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), designed to assist the most vulnerable segments of society. Furthermore, he outlined recent development investments totaling Rs 1,200 billion, underscoring the government’s commitment to national progress and infrastructure development.
Malik also shared encouraging economic updates, including a 6.3% increase in the agriculture sector and a notable decrease in inflation from 38% to 12%. He commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his focus on job creation, enhancing the business environment, and poverty reduction. These initiatives are integral to a broader strategy aimed at economic stabilization, improving living standards, and promoting sustainable development across the country.
