British Newspaper The Telegraph Named Masjid al-Haram World’s Most Expensive Building

According to a report by The Telegraph, the Masjid-ul-Haram in Makkah has been recognized as the world’s most expensive construction project, with a staggering cost of $100 billion. This sacred mosque, the holiest site in Islam, spans an area of 400,800 square meters and has the capacity to accommodate up to four million worshippers.

Following closely is the Abraj al-Bayt, also known as the Clock Towers, in Makkah, which cost $15 billion to build. The list of costly constructions also features notable projects such as Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands, renowned for their luxury and entertainment options.

Other significant entries include The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, a high-end resort and casino, Mukesh Ambani’s opulent residence, Antilia, in Mumbai, and the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

These monumental projects not only highlight extraordinary architectural and engineering achievements but also represent substantial investments in infrastructure and tourism, drawing millions of visitors annually. The Telegraph’s ranking sheds light on the immense financial commitment involved in developing some of the world’s most iconic and extravagant buildings.
