In the fiscal year 2023-24, Pakistan witnessed a dramatic surge in the import of mobile phones, reaching $1.898 billion USD. This represents a remarkable 233% increase compared to the previous fiscal year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
When converted to Pakistani rupees, these imports amounted to Rs535.690 billion, showcasing an extraordinary 291.45% rise year-over-year. The month of June 2024 alone recorded mobile phone imports valued at $278.574 million USD, marking a substantial 76.77% increase from May 2024 and an astonishing 419.90% rise from June 2023.
Furthermore, total telecom imports for the fiscal year reached $2.366 billion USD, reflecting a significant annual increase of 147.36%. Specifically, in June 2024, telecom imports amounted to $320.094 million USD, indicating a 232% surge from June 2023.
These statistics underscore a burgeoning demand for mobile phones and telecommunications equipment in Pakistan, highlighting the country’s growing reliance on advanced technology and communication devices.
