China is making significant strides towards bolstering its renewable energy sector, with ambitious plans that outpace the rest of the world combined. They aim to develop 339 gigawatts (GW) of clean energy sources, including 180 GW from large-scale solar systems and 15 GW from wind power projects. By the end of 2024, China plans to achieve a total renewable energy capacity of 1,200 GW, marking a substantial advancement in their green energy infrastructure.
Despite these achievements, China faces challenges due to its continued reliance on coal and concerns about energy security. To address these issues, there is a pressing need to enhance energy storage capabilities and improve the flexibility of the power grid. These enhancements are crucial for effectively managing the increasing integration of renewable energy sources and ensuring a reliable and stable power supply for all.
