Rohit Sharma has cemented his place as the most successful T20I captain, surpassing Babar Azam, following India’s triumph over England in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
India is now geared up to face South Africa in the final at Kensington Stadium in Barbados on June 29.
Sharma, in exceptional form, has steered India to 49 victories, making him the top T20I captain in terms of wins. Additionally, he ranks third in T20 World Cup runs with a total of 248 runs from seven innings.
In the semi-final clash, India’s spinners played a pivotal role in their victory. Both Patel and Kuldeep scalped three wickets each, restricting England to a mere 103 runs. This stellar performance by the bowlers placed India in a commanding position.
Despite losing early wickets, Rohit Sharma’s composed batting display, amassing 57 runs, coupled with crucial partnerships, guided the team to a respectable total of 171 runs.
