Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has cracked down on food safety breaches in Lahore, seizing 800 kilograms of spoiled chicken from a suspicious vehicle on Jaranwala Road. Following a tip-off from a vigilant citizen, PFA officials intercepted the vehicle late at night, uncovering a significant quantity of unfit chicken intended for distribution across the city.
Prompt action was taken to prevent this compromised chicken from entering the food supply chain and posing a risk to consumers. The PFA team promptly destroyed the chicken at the scene. Three individuals associated with the illegal distribution of unsafe food products were apprehended and are now facing criminal charges under food safety laws.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by illicit poultry trade and underscores the critical importance of stringent food safety regulations. The arrested individuals are believed to be part of a broader network engaged in unlawful food activities. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them to ensure accountability and deterrence.
PFA remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of food products in Punjab. Rigorous enforcement measures will continue to be implemented to combat any violations of food safety standards and protect public health.
